About the Ledger

The Hockley County Ledger reports decisions and public notices of local governments in Hockley County, Texas. An AI system reads official public documents, currently City of Levelland council agendas and minutes and Hockley County Commissioners Court minutes, and writes short, neutral summaries of what they say. No human reviews articles before they appear.

How articles are checked

• Every paragraph must quote, word for word, the passage of the source document it is based on. The quote is shown under the paragraph.
• Any paragraph whose names or numbers do not appear in the source is removed automatically.
• A second AI check compares each paragraph with its quote and removes claims the quote does not support.
• Articles that touch on crime, arrests, lawsuits, discipline or health are not published. The site does not cover crime or police activity.
• Every article links to its source document, which is the authoritative record.

Who runs it

The Ledger is an independent, non-commercial project. It is not affiliated with the City of Levelland, Hockley County or any other news organization, and it carries no advertising.
